Little Monkeys Nursery Windsor Opens it’s Preschool!!
Little Monkeys Nursery provides care for babies from the age of 3 months up to 5 years. During this time, your child will become emerged in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). This is a statutory framework that sets the standards of provision for all children. From the age of 3 years, the government provides a funding system and at Little Monkeys this is available to all children the term after the child’s 3rd birthday. They EYFS has 6 areas of learning and development which all children work towards. Little Monkeys Nursery Windsor has now opened a preschool for children aged 3years to 5years. This is situated next door the the existing nursery and is internally connected. Little Monkeys has created an unusual concept where you are able to get the preschool environment but in the 8am to 6pm care.
We have designed the Preschool to help your little one get ready for school. There are many fun activities and classes including:
‘My Scrap Book’
When your little one moves to Pre-school their observations are recorded in their ‘scrap book’. Their ‘scrap book’ is made up of photographic observations from their key worker and art/mark making/important findings, anything your little one wants to add and the reason behind this. This encourages them to take pride in their work and to be proud of their development. We would also like to encourage you as parents to take the time to read through your little one’s scrap book and add to it with your little one (pictures & comments).
Daily Walks
Your child will go out on daily walks, either in the morning or the afternoon. This will ensure their physical developmental stages are met & challenged. The staff will also implement the remaining 5 stages of development whilst out on their walks, through the language they use with the children and activities planned. Each morning the staff will plan the activities for the walk, risk assess the route and destination (5 minutes before they take the children out) and set up ready for the children. Pre-school use Bachelors Acre and The Long Walk as their main destination for walks. They also like to watch the soldiers march and visit the ducks. Pre-school will be visiting places of interest/learning within the community, such as The Post Office, The Bakery, The Police Station, The Fire station, The Castle and other destinations based around the children’s interests. The daily walks/trips will be written up on the white board in the reception area.
Mini Latte Morning
At the beginning of each month the staff and children in Pre-school visit the cafe ‘Esquires’ for their snack, where they have mini latte’s/hot chocolates and a muffin. The children take a story of their choice to read whilst they are there. This is a social morning for the children within the local community, developing on their Communication & Language and Knowledge & Understanding of the world.
French
French is every Wednesday morning for the children. In French the children play games and sing songs in French, based around a topic, Animals, Vehicles etc.
Forest School
This is an area for Pre-school’s and Schools within the borough to use. It is situated within the Great Park where the trees have been cut down for the children to build and make dens with, exploring nature at its best!
Jolly Phonic’s
Here at Little Monkeys Pre-school we use the ‘Jolly Phonics’ method of learning sounds through rhyme. The children have a ‘Sound of the week’, which they base activities around at morning and afternoon circle time, with their key worker and group. Once your child confidently knows all of their alphabet letters and sounds they will start to work on an individual basis with their key worker, linking sounds together which then develops onto the early stages of reading.
We try to implement Communication & Language in every area of play, through words, books, communication between staff and children etc. We allow children to develop their Communication & Language skills at their own pace.
Learning should and will be fun here at Little Monkeys Pre-school.
Show and Tell
Show and Tell is a part of the day where children can talk about an object which they have brought in from home to show their friends. Our show and Tell time contributes to developing children’s language skills as well as developing confidence when talking in front of others.
Uniform is compulsory here at Little Monkeys Pre-school.
